What to check if Artlantis crashes?

Please check if Artlantis is running in a proper environment:

On MAC


Your computer: 

  • Artlantis is installed on a physical machine (Please note that Artlantis is not officially supported on virtual machines)

  • Your computer fits the minimum requirement. Check out the system requirements here

  • Your MacOS is up to date

  • You have administrator privileges on your account. If necessary, add it manually to Artlantis as follows: Add administrator rights to Artlantis on Mac

  • Check if the FileVault and Firewall are on in the System Preferences, Security, and Privacy tab. If they are, exclude Artlantis and its components (Artlantis, Batch Render, License Manager...)

  • OSX 10.14 and higher: Allow Artlantis and its components in the System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Accessibility

Artlantis: 

  • Make sure that you have installed the latest update of Artlantis (Help menu > Check for Update)

  • Clean Artlantis hidden preferences files. If they become corrupted, it may cause problems for Artlantis. Follow the steps of this article:

    When finished, empty your trash can and restart your computer.

File management: 

  • Make sure that your files are stored locally, not in synchronized or shared folders like Dropbox

  • The files and the paths name where the files are stored shouldn't contain specific characters (ü, ?, &, +, %, …)

Try to open the Artlantis demo file installed by default. The original path is: MacintoshHD/Users/Shared/Abvent/Artlantis/Scenes)

If FileVault and Firewall were enabled during installation, please reinstall Artlantis with these disabled.




On WINDOWS

Your computer: 

The antivirus and firewall can also slow down the opening of a file. Allow Artlantis in your firewall or proxy and exclude the following path from your antivirus :

  • C:\Program Files\Artlantis X 

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Abvent_Artlantis X

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\Abvent 

  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Abvent\Artlantis

Artlantis: 

  • Check if your Artlantis is up to date. Go to the following menu: Help > Check for updates

  • Clean Artlantis hidden preferences files. If they become corrupted, they may cause issues for Artlantis. Follow the steps from this article:

    When finished, empty your trash can and restart your computer. 

The Artlantis files: 

  • Files should be stored locally, not on synchronized or shared folders like Dropbox

  • The files and the paths name where the files are stored shouldn't contain specific characters (ü, ?, &, +, %, …)

 Make the following test: 

  • Make a right-click on the Artlantis icon and choose > Run as administrator

  • Try to open the Demo file (Original path: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Abvent\Artlantis\Scenes)

If the antivirus and the Firewall were enabled during installation, please reinstall Artlantis with these disabled.
