Use your dedicated graphic card with Artlantis on Windows

Modified on Mon, 24 Apr 2023 at 05:09 AM

Issue detected: Artlantis crashes at startup or when opening a file and is slowed down.

Possible reason:

Many laptops are currently available with two graphics cards: an integrated graphics card (Intel), and an additional dedicated graphics card (Nvidia or AMD). Problems occur when your application needs to use your dedicated graphics card. The default option on the laptop can be set to "Auto", so the system decides which graphics card will be used for a specific application.

How to solve it:

The following steps show you how to change the settings and assign your dedicated graphics card to Artlantis. These steps may vary from one computer to another but the principle remains the same.

NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARD

1. Make a right click on your desktop. Choose "More Options" and select the "Nvidia Control Panel".

2. Under “3D Settings,” select "Adjust image settings with preview"

3. In the dialog, choose "Use the advanced 3D image settings" and Aply.

4. Go to the next step and open the "Manage 3D settings" In the Global Settings tab, select: "High-performance NVIDIA processor"

5. In the Program Settings tab, search for Artlantis in the roll-down menu or recherchez Artlantis dans le menu déroulant ou cliquez sur Ajouter s'il n'y est pas. Cliquez sur Appliquer.

6. Restart Artlantis. If you still have problems, please download and install the latest graphics card driver for your device from here: www.nvidia.com.

ATI/AMD RADEON GRAPHICS CARD

Note: There are major differences between the ATI/AMD Radeon Catalyst Control Center versions to modify the parameters of these cards. The following steps are indicative because even if your Control Center does not look like the following screenshots, you should be able to find the same options.

1. Make a right click on your desktop and choose: "Graphic Properties"

2. 2. In the "Power" tab, choose "PowerPlay". For the "Plugged In" and "Battery" options, choose "Maximize Performance". Click Apply to finish de changes.

3. If applicable to your graphics card, go to the "Gaming" tab, "3D Application Settings," and move the slider to Performance. Click Apply to complete the modification.

4. If your Catalyst Control Center has a "Switchable Graphics" tab, open it. Search for Artlantis among the Applications and choose "High Performance". Click Apply to finish de changes.

5. Restart your computer and Artlantis. If you still have problems, please download and install the latest graphics card driver for your device from www.amd.com.
